Tesla recently slashed the price of its self-driving software to $99/month. The system is amazing when it works but can be terrifying and stressful at times, as it still requires constant driver supervision.

Have been a Beta tester for over 2 Years. It has came a long way and takes some getting used to. It is a great co pilot.

Stressful because you have to trust it and get used to that, which does require getting used to. Also the reporter, as usual, is misrepresenting Tesla. The product is literally named "full self driving supervised". That's accurate. You are told you must supervise and be ready to take over.

The news make it so dramatic.. my friend has one and he can't go back to manual driving

It’s a great technology and drives very human like. In a few years I can see the RoboTaxi vision being fully realized. Well done Tesla. ⚡️

I rather drive without it. I feel like I’m supervising someone who’s trying to get their drivers license 😂.

Maybe if the "reporter" wasn't so stupid he could have actually given a useful and more informative take on this.

I am terrified of heights, so I have a difficult time driving over the on and off ramp flyovers on the SoCal freeway system. It has gotten worse as I approach 60 yrs old. In the last two years I have severe anxiety driving on the freeway generally. I just drive the city streets now without issue. For that reason this vehicle appeals to me, but it’s above my cost level.

I can’t take an escalator, or be on a second floor if there is a way to see down to the floor below.

Yes it is a bit stressful when you first try it out. It does make small mistakes but in general driving and on the highway it is awesome. Updates come about every two weeks and it makes fewer mistakes each time. I found that it’s driving style can be tuned in the settings to make it drive more to your liking. This review was fair but keep trying it and report back.

Seems like a waste of money for a useless feature. So it's autonomous but still required a person to be behind the wheel? Seems like they add this feature just to make the car more expensive. There shouldn't be an in-between, it's either autonomous or it's not. If it's still required a person behind the wheel then yeah may as well just not had the feature then.

KTLA 5 - Stressful because you are a NOVICE .
talk to ANY Veteran TESLA FSD user . see why you are WRONG.

Not stressful at all for those of us that have had it for 3 years. Used to have to intervene all the time. Now it’s really good and can drive many miles without intervention.

It’s getting better and better with each update, at a rapid pace now. In the next year or two it’ll likely be good enough to drive without supervision, and be safer than humans

I would never ever give up control of my car to software. Even cruise control requires monitoring.

It’s not there as of yet and still very stressful. I won’t be paying $99 for something to supervised and risk my life for. The full price of FSD should be priced as $6k which will bring a lot of profit from most owner who will be getting and waiting for it to become better.

KTLA 5 - you are such a Pedestrian .
FSD - Requires your hands on the Wheel, or ELSE it will BLOCK you from using FSD.
however Tesla FSD is the ONLY System that can Drive Streets, even unmarked Roads, basic CURB to CURB with ZERO interventions. FSD is also Capable of Street to RAMP to Highway, change lanes, speed up to PASS slow moving Traffic, take EXIT and Drive Streets again.

You can clearly tell some of them have no idea what they're talking about. " Even some of the American brands " he doesn't even know Tesla is an American company.

I have used FSD since I bought my new 2017 Model x. Wow, what a game changer starting this April 2024 especially if new to a new city. It is definitely level 3!!! I am also a pilot. Whether plane autopilot or car autopilot you must stay vigilant and not complacent because it will kill you. These are system assist devices and even aircraft still have two pilots with auto pilot. The Tesla system is very safe for what it is level 3. I am so impressed and excited about the future when we change from VI to AI. You basically have Will have a verbal interactive assistant your car that you can interact with specially with. Navigation. Once cars reach level five and legislative hurdles, your car will be an asset versus depreciating liability.. and put money in your pocket every month vs taking money out of your pocket every month like a depreciating liability car now. Even if we could save 50% more lives, 20, 000/year it would be worth it. 40, 000 people die/year in cars. That should be frightening to everybody.
