Philosophy of Rainbows

Bas van Fraassen holds that rainbows are not real entities but instead should be considered "public hallucinations". I criticize van Fraassen's view and offer a realist alternative.

Very interesting topic. I love it when philosophy is applied to this kind of stuff. I think I agree with your analysis of rainbows. The problem about a part of an object having two different colours simultaniously seems defused by a kind of relationalism about colour. Maybe a slightly modified one.
