Magnitude 5.1 earthquake rattles Los Angeles area

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.1 shook the Los Angeles area Sunday afternoon, just as Tropical Storm Hilary was drenching the region with heavy rain. KTLA 5's special coverage tracking Tropical Storm Hilary continues all night and will now include updates on the 5.1 Ojai earthquake and any aftershocks. (Aug. 20, 2023)

4pm lots of aftershocks and drizzling rain in Ventura at C Street/Ventura Pier.
Sharp jolts and aftershocks but no damage.
Surfers are having the time of their lives in the storm waves.
