On taking breaks, I’d like to throw in that scrolling social media doesn’t count as a break! Social media can still consume a lot of your brain power and can even be stressful, social media is designed to be distracting and attention holding and even use more energy than participating in your hobby.

Drawing every day for me has been a form of self care for me. Not only am I learning something new each day and keeping my mind sharp, but it's a nice escape and a way to meditate after a long day. I am a full time caregiver for my husband who has a chronic illness so I can get stressed out physically and emotionally. Art is keeping me going in so many ways and I'm so grateful for it 😊❤

you were the one who inspired me to draw more this year. i haven't been able to draw every day because of university, but i have been drawing more this year than i have all my life! which to me feels more meaningful than getting one sketch in every day for the hell of it (what i ended up doing earlier this year after a few months). i feel like i'm at a place where i can say i love my art, while there's room for improvement and always will have, i do enjoy looking at them. it's kinda that thing people say "my younger self would freak out if they saw my art now"! anyway, that's all to say, thank you so much Shay. you're my favorite artist, i never get tired of rewatching your videos and scrolling through your Instagram page. hope the rest of this year brings you tons of more opportunities and happiness <3 love from Brazil.

the fact that you from video to video say that even though you give some advice, drawing is your full-time job and you can afford doing all of this is so comforting and makes me inspired even more. sometimes i have to remind myself, that i have plenty of time in my life actually and i will eventually get to the point i want, this motivates me to keep on drawing more than anything

I´m honestly grateful for your videos, as an art teacher student college has got me down how other teachers often criticize what you or what their students draw or in what style you do it, plus the fact that in the third year, we leave art aside to more pedagogical themes, personally that affected me, I was quite unsure for some time if I really loved art because of that, but now that I don´t draw or paint as much as I would love I realized how much I love to do it. Watching your videos has been a help to the way I see art, and I still want to learn many things for my future students and me, so thank you.
