Proper drawing technique shares a lot in common with proper guitar playing technique. Use the whole arm. Don’t squeeze or stroke too hard, only use just enough force to accomplish the movement.

My beloved and deceased lecture taught me how to incorporate flowing lines into my drawings it has taken my art to another dimension and makes them look alive amazing what the flow of linework can do to your art.

I spent so much of my childhood drawing on a limited amount of paper that I learned to draw everything very small, so I could get the most out of it; 10 years down the line and I still fall into that habit, so these little reminders are quite helpful lol

oh boy this'll be hard. shoutout to the dudes with essential tremor cause you've probably held onto the pencil with every cell of your being for god knows how long

In art school, we called those "hairy lines."

I still have this habit, unfortunately, because my "aim" isn't great.

It's really difficult to do that if you use a small tablet for digital drawing. I use the wrist most of the time because of the small area available, so my line strokes when I'm sketching are usually choppy. When I add the final lines I try to fix that, but it takes some time though 🤭

I will say this, I only recently started seeing your videos, I’ve been drawing for a while now, about 3 years, and I’m still in many of the beginner stages cuz I never properly learned nor trained myself how to make my artwork look good and decent, even though I’m just a cartoonist, these tutorials help a lot because it reminds me that the fundamentals help way more than just jumping head first and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making these videos and helping artists

It takes a lot of practice to shift from finger and wrist drawing to your shoulder more, but it is so worth it. Try drawing with your shoulder as much as possible as you practice, even when drawing tiny

My art style is supposed to be sloppy and sketchy, even though I’m inking. Though this is good advice!
