There was only *one* period in the history of the USA when the working class were actually getting ahead, and that was back in the 1950's when the rich got taxed to high heaven. Up to a 90% rate for the most wealthy. THOSE are the "good ol times" we need to get back to. (Except everything else from that era).

I wish someone could explain to me how putting up interest rates will tackle inflation? Making ordinary people who are already struggling..NB they're not the source of spiralling inflation.. poorer will only precipitate a recession. There's an ideological reason this government won't target big business profiteering and corporate bonuses, much easier to blame ordinary people and to get the mainstream media to regurgitate the "need to raise interest rates" orthodoxy.

Again, zero surprises here. The Tories have never been for the ordinary people of Britain, just the wealthy. Brits have incredibly short memories though and when things get better under labour, people will think they’re well off again and start voting Tory and the whole cycle will repeat again. Rinse and repeat. I’m so glad I left the UK twelve years ago, my only regret being it wasn’t twenty years ago.

What we need is a proper tax on assets, not just wealth. And I don’t mean hiking council tax on one property that’s owned and lived in. We’ve been milked enough!
