Tory voter berates minister on Question Time over tax credits - BBC News

A Tory voter in the audience of the BBC's Question Time has launched an impassioned attack on Conservative minister Amber Rudd over tax credits. But the woman's comments went un-answered as the panel moved on to talk about the "reported chaos in Labour's policy-making". Under the government's plans, the earnings level above which tax credits are withdrawn will be lowered from £6,420 to £3,850, and the rate at which the benefit is lost as pay rises will be sped up. Ministers argue the impact of the cuts will be mitigated by the new National Living Wage and higher tax thresholds. Labour says three million families face losing an average of £1,000 a year.

I sympathize a bit but she voted for them knowing about the other people who had faced cuts under the last Tory/Lib dem government. Long as it wasn't her right? she was happy to vote Tory on their false promises (as usual) and now it does effect her. Perhaps if people voted less selfishly and considered society as whole things might get better.

People need to understand, "I'm alright Jack" is not what POLITICS are about.

If you want to sort yourself out that's fine. Work hard, do the best you can and take your opportunities sensibly.

Politics, however, is how the ENTIRE COUNTRY is going to be run. You may be well off, but others are in a worse situation. Last general election, everyone voted with their wallets. I sincerely hope you all learnt your lesson. Vote based on how the COUNTRY IS DOING, not how you have trouble personally.

As much as we can all say well that's what you get for voting them bla bla. It's a horrible thing to watch firstly how good propaganda can be when it comes to voting and how genuine people can be convinced there making the right choice. Also just horrendous how on question time they don't seemed to be questioned on a matter that's so affecting it's making this woman cry just repeating it. To ignore such emotions in another person is horrendous

A vote is a right and a responsibility. she has a responsibility to society to use her vote in an informed manner If she genuinely thought voting Tory would be the best choice for ordinary working people, she needs to become much more informed before voting again
