In this video, Tim Wahl, a Rochester-area man in otherwise good health, talks about his surprising prostate cancer diagnosis following a routine PSA test at age 52. Having the test, he said, allowed him to treat the cancer at an earlier stage and move on with his life.

Edward M. Messing, M.D., chair of the URMC Department of Urology and president of the Society of Urologic Oncology, is a proponent of PSA testing. He led the research and discusses the findings, which are published in the journal Cancer.
