Thank you so much for putting in the time to produce the informative sessions. All for free - so important to have information out there, for everyone. I'm 60yrs old, have been getting a PSA & Rectal exam, since 2013 and just last Thursday I chose to see a Urologist, for an exam mainly to reassure me, that all is O.K. I tell you the money spent was well worth it for peace of mind and to get the professional input. The Urologist I saw was also a surgeon and so professional. I'm now going to go annually to this Urologist, for my exams. Anthony (Northland, New Zealand - SUN 14 JUL 2024, 8.50 a.m.).

My prostate was removed by laparascopic surgery in Jan 2013, at age 58. So did my two siblings, all diagnosed within a couple of months of each other. Genetic defect, got it from my father. My PSA was 3.68 at the time. It was detected through PSA velocity, my PSA nearly doubled in a year. A biopsy confirmed the red flag, Gleason (3, 4), detected early and cancer was confined to the prostate only. It is now 10 years+, and we are all doing ok.

Clear, logical and learned advice! Thank you all. My dad passed away from metastic prostate cancer but was 85 yrs old. So, It's only a matter of time until SOMETHING gets you. It got out and into the pelvis and spine and he was gone a year later. Get checked, gentlemen! I've been steady at 0.58 for over 10 years my family doc understands my genetic concerns and we'll keep pulling PSA tests and digital checks at my physicals. Really guys, it's not that bad....in and out quickly so don't freak out! My first digital was from a young (and very lovely) female PA. It took every ounce of willpower from me to avoid asking, "so, do I owe you dinner or something now?" Thank you again, Doctors.

Thank you both and Dr. Peter Incze for this. Gives a basic understanding and underlines how important it is to get checked. And as much as I normally enjoy the joking around, glad you presented this in the way you did. Very informative.

A great explanation of a very important subject!
This is very important information that was addressed excellently!
And as a woman, my best role in this would be to have the men in my life get examined by their doctors.
Yes I watch ALL your videos, no matter the subject! 😘
Thanks for sharing another great video!

I am PC survivor, 2 yrs post radiation treatment. What wasn't mentioned is sex can elevate psa reading. Abstain for couple days prior to getting psa blood test. Also per my urologist, all men with prostate will develop cancers if they live long enough. Not all PC are aggressive, surveillance is an option vs surgery or radiation.

This is the best description of the PSA test that I have ever come across. There is a history of prostate cancer in my family so this is definitely of interest to me. I appreciate the description of the way in which a patient with enlarged prostate can have an elevated PSA test result, yet be free of cancerous lesions. Thank you for this!

So important! And don't ignore the signs of BPH! I am not a doctor but speak from experience as I ignored the symptoms for far too long! Thank you Docs!

Good stuff, thanks guys. I'm currently in limbo with my PSA. Mid 40's, had PSA as part of a complete blood panel. It was in the 8's so I went through a couple more PSA tests, then MRI, then biopsy. Couldn't find any cancer. Urologist said some people just have high PSA for unknown reasons. Not exactly reassuring. So much of prostate diagnosis is still a mystery. I encourage all men to get tested routinely. Hoping the science gets better.

I really like your helpful videos a lot. They’ve assisted me with several health issues and set my mind to ease on a few that I was concerned about. Thank You

My aged doctor would do rectal exams when I was young, I think because that's just how things were done in his day. It's no big deal. Towards the end of his career he switched to PSA tests and the subsequent young doctor ordered them too. I have no extended danger of prostate cancer but I am comforted to know the test is being done.

Thank you exceedingly, Dr. Paul Zalzal, Dr. Brad Weening, and Dr. Peter Incze. I never understood prostate cancer or the psa but I understand fully now. This video should be shown in school to inform young men because they might go home and tell their dads and get them to get checked out. I had the prostate finger check and it only took the doctor seconds and he also ordered a psa check and all is normal.

I've subscribed to TALKING WITH DOCS and have watched many of your videos already.

Great info. I'd just like to add, I was 46 getting a physical after some questions my doctor said just to be safe let's do an exam, he immediately sent me to a urologist. My PSA was 1.9 but my prostate had bumps around it so he did a biopsy. Out of 10 samples 8 came back positive for cancer. They removed it but it came back. So they did an MRI and found a growth the size of a walnut where the prostate was, so it was on to radiation. Anyway I've been cancer free for 3yrs now. I was lucky my PCP decided to check even though they usually wait til 50 or older. Early detection is key to find and treat cancer. Thanks doc.

You all are hitting close to home with this video . Just had my PSA & a CAT scan done all ok. Glad y'all didn't talk about the cystoscope procedure that will scare people off. I've had it done 3 times NOT FUN Thank you for this video I learned a lot from this good explanation . I don't look forward going to the Urologist or the colorectal surgeon they have to many instruments . I ask them what that does then say TMI. Y'all have a great rest of the week we are waiting on Nicole the hurricane to blow through in north Florida. Waiting to see what your next video will be. Holler @ y'all later.

Excellent info. I had PSA/DRE tests from my early 50s until age 65 (Ontario) when I moved to another province where there was a 4- 1/2yr delay in getting a Doc/NP. The next PSA was 15.9 so I was referred to an Urologist and biopsied (MRI delay would be too long). Biopsy was positive in 10 cores/12 and Gleason 8. I had robotic assisted radical prostatectomy within 5 months of the PSA report (including CT and bone scans) so that was pretty responsive. I am 3+ weeks post op and doing fine except not really enjoying the incontinance, but it is improving. Looking good as far as negative spread but I still have a couple of weeks before seeing my Dr re the pathology report. The process was not as bad as I initially feared and I am hopeful that I have been fully cured.
