Astronomers have confirmed that Earth-like planets orbit nearby stars, but they’re too far away for humans to reach. That's where artificially-intelligent robots come in. On this episode of AI IRL, Bloomberg's Nate Lanxon and Jackie Davalos are joined by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who explains the ways in which AI can shed light on the universe’s great unknowns, help us explore new planets and discover new galaxies.

Ai will literally put humans to shame be it space, art, or building

Yes, Ai is perfect for space exploration. Human exploration of space is limited.

Civilization has a choice: Continue in ignorance, or use tools to aid in exploring and acquiring knowledge. Artificial Intelligence is a tool that has the potential to aid Humanity in learning at a level and at a rate that has never been part of the Human experience before.

Re: Pets... I'm confident that AI doesn't have to treat us extremely well to convince us we're treated extremely well. Consider how we corral animals from their natural lives only to enslave them, while they may appear content with the process... happiness and convenience doesn't mean life is better, but many will, knowingly or not, accept that.

I've said this somewhere else we could use the photons or whatever particle can be split and always have opposite charges or rotations then load a pile on the craft and keep the pairs here and use them to create a binary data stream using their locked properties. How? I have no idea but if able to it would be instant communication over any distance

The mass and fragility of organic life make us impractical subjects for sending vast distances at great speed. But by the time we have the ability to send ai for the benefit of organic life, an increasing number of conscious beings will prefer according priority to the more intelligent and durable amongst us. That's meritocracy. At some point, they may think of humans much like humans currently consider other apes. They may even credit a.i. for the most significant developments in a.i.

I teared up a bit when I saw the host.. She looks so much like Claire Wineland.

Why do we need Nasa or any space agency

no one has bent to space and will ever go

Ai could go to any planet or universe at the speed of light, their will be no use for Nasa or any space agency ...just let Ai run the space agencies

Yes, but we all have this excitement to meet the aliens in our lifetime.

sigh.
We _are_ intelligent. If we're the best kind of intelligence or not, is a different question altogether and that wasn't the question asked. Sorry but I get really annoyed at those who pander to the most self-deprecating among us.
There is no question that we are intelligent, because we have the ability to question our very existence. When we look in the mirror, we see ourselves - not just "someone". Very few species are able to do this. As far as I know, only Octopuses (yes that's the correct word, look it up) have been verified to be able to do the same.

After the question was raised about whether AI can ever be more creative than humans, my first thought was, "Only if it is programmed to be so?"?’.
I have been thinking about the reasons people lie I asked would an AI tell a lie? To tell a lie you need to be creative, so I ask, ‘Will an AI ever be creative enough to tell a lie?’.
I questioned why people lie and then why an AI would do so. The Reasoning was the same if a human programmer programmed the AI to lie, why would anyone want an AI to lie to them???
Ask yourself why would an AI want any of the things that cause humans to lie without the human element to help and assist to make it better.
“I get it, you programmed you’re AI to lie because you are such a bad liar…”???

Neil "I refuse to use ChatGPT" Tyson, keeps saying AI can't be creative when in fact creativity is different ideas being put together to create new ideas and concepts which ChatGPT has been doing flawlessly and so has MidJourney. He's a fairly arrogant man with a superiority complex.

It seems to me that they were more concerned with asking a predetermined number of questions than listening to the answers.

If we create sentient AI, are we AI’s God? It seems our child will have every potential to kill its parents without believing in the existence of its Grandparent. At that point have we created a God that will rule the universe, the God that we want to believe in. Does this lead towards simulation theory?
