Amoco was the first company that I can recall in the USA that sold Lead Free gasoline. It was back as far as 1967. By 1971 most gasoline brands offered a lead free gas as many new automobiles required to due to emission equipment. This commercial features brand new 1971 Cadillac Eldorado and DeVille. BP which owns the Amoco Brand just opened up a dozen new Amoco Stations in the New York area. They are reviving the name. Even though Amoco hasn't been used in years as a brand name, it seems to have strong brand recognition with people.

Yes but the older cars with non hardened alloy valves needed the lead or they would have wear and loose their seal plugs were expected to be changed more often and the muffler was went to be replaced I think this gas was only to be used sometimes in the leaded cars not full time I heard this white gasoline was 100 octane was really for small engines 2 stroke were the lead was not needed or wanted as well lanterns and camp stoves of all different kind needed this white gas. Being 100 Octane is would prevent knock in about anything but offered no protection for the valves in the leaded gas burners.
