I was super excited to do this review! Spoiler Alert: Sonarworks Reference 4 pretty much changed my life!

It's an acoustic analysis and calibration system designed to give you the most accurate sound in environments which may not be ideal. This will be a life-changer for home/small studios who don't have huge acoustic treatment budgets.

Check out the Sonarworks system here:

They run an affiliate program that supports my channel, so I really appreciate if you guys are as keen on the system as I am, purchase it via the link above :)

I didn't record the audio difference because it's very "room specific" so chances are the difference won't be perceived as accurate as it is in any other studios, as the calibration was done in my studio.

Big thanks to the awesome people at Sonarworks for the support and opportunity!

Yesterday, I listened to a current track on my old monitors and was miffed at how 'out' it sounded and got wondering about the monitoring problem and how to avoid all the running around to get the mix right. This morning, the first vid I come across is literally this! Awesome universe we live in ...and an awesome channel you have. Cheers!

It really is a great piece of software. I've only got Yamaha HS7 but I've been getting mixes that translate so well on better studio monitors and club sound systems.

Cheers Dash! Absolute pleasure to see how this impacts you. Would love to hear your reactions although the fast forward reactions have been received well from the whole team here! We are having a giggle.

I made my bachelor's thesis on equalization of loudspeaker magnitude and phase response, and this is very interesting video! Do you know what kind of filters it uses for the equalization process or does it have any options to it?

Hey Dash! Do you by any chance mix on headphones? I have studio monitors, but I've been looking into getting a good pair of headphones for production when I simply can't mix on monitors because it's too loud. Do you have any suggestions?

Could it replace entirely room treatment ? Room treatment seems to be such a voodoo science process ...

Very good video bro, I would like to ask you:

1. Is the eq at 100x100 flat? Does everything sound good? As I have seen in other videos of other people, they do not put it at 100x100 flat. I do not understand why

2. Is it necessary to mix after the measurement, at the same volume with which it is calibrated ?, that is, would the flat eq created by the sonarw be affected, if the listening volume varies later?

3. Is the sonarw effective? Have you improved your mixes?

Hi, one question, is it better to have the compensation activated, listening spot? I have - 0.5 dB in L.

How was easy is it to calibrate headphones?

So, as it comes across, this software makes a larger difference than acoustic treatment?

Very cool tech vid. Keep up the stellar work with the rest of your vids mate!

Quick question, but would this kind of tech negate the need to treat your studio. I've got all my old gear from back in the day and wouldn't mind toying with production again.

But can't validate spending cash on treatment foam. (Though it would be nice to have a dead space without that reverb)

Would this software then calibrate the speakers to give the truest possible reference sound?

Just tested out True-Fi for my ATH-M50X's and it does certainly bring more frequencies out... is this not considered "colouring" of the headphones intended freq output? It does make the sample tracks sound awesome though on these cans. Suppose this brings in the whole "In Theory" vs "What sounds Good" to the fore as well.}

Thanks for any feedback brother :)

broo before you use that..do some correct acoustic treatment! what you have there is a waste of space..too small too thin they dont do anything probably also doing the acoustics worse since they cut only mid or high frequencies and you left with more lows to mess up with everything!

Next thing to buy for the studio then.. Just a question, do you gonna use this 1 time only, or is to use, like 1 time a week, or everytime time before you do your stuff ? Thanks
