Cost of living in Bangalore in a 3 BHK in a posh area : 1.5 lakh per month
Cost of living in my beautiful village in a 3 BHK in a posh area : 40000 per month.

Best strategy to retire. Sell all of your belongings in the Indian city, move to a small city, buy some piece of land and produce organic vegetables and fruits. Benefits are,

* You get fresh air
* You get cheap and fresh food
* You get organic seasonal fruits and vegetables
* You get cheap land
* You get clean water
* You talk with innocent people daily
* You will be treated like a rich man

( Based on my last 2 years of experience living in village )

I calculated, if u want to retire at age of 25 u need asof now 5 cr (for very comfortable life) for ur entire life and ur family expenses.

But if I want to know how much I need for my retirement. I need to keep inflation in mind. Today 30 lakhs per year seems great but after 40 years they will not be sufficient. One thing we must start considering is that for how many years we want to make a retirement fund. You never know you just end up living till the age of 110.

F.I.R.E .
Invest (annual expenses X 25) in equity (index)
Withdraw 3.5-4% max annually you're good for life.
I.e. if you need 50000 monthly.
Target (50000X12)25= 1.5 crore.
I don't think most Indians need 50k monthly for retirement life.
