Sad to say, the lady just recently passed away, 93 years old (born 1931~ died at Lugano Switzerland 9th of Sept. 2024). Grande artiste.

I only learned about Valente 5 years ago, and she was one the greatest talents out there. She was multi-lingual, a phenomenal singer, funny, and had insane charisma.

Wow! So, the amazing F#6 was hidden in one of her movies. Honourable mention to those sustained E6s. She's always had a natural ease of flying with her range.

She was also a very competent guitarist- jazz artists of the time said Caterina was the most musically talented woman they had ever met.

Classical training I suppose? Her whole voice is well developed. There was a video showcasing vocal range and she had it all. I remember she could belt a G5 and her lowest note was a solid D3. She was one of Elis Regina's inspirations.

Holy shit, I mean the range is impressive no doubt but what's most impressive to me is how spot on the intonation is??? She's like dead on for every single note with very little sliding around to hit the pitches, that's fucking crazy. I know this bit is like scripted out, but she definitely practiced just singing trumpet lines like that, I think that's what Ella Fitzgerald did too
