=======

In this video we're going to look at how exactly to find your head voice. This means being able to singing higher, longer and without strain so you can begin to sing with more freedom throughout all of your vocal ranges.

Most people try and sing higher notes but unfortunately it’s in their chest voice. The problem with this is you begin to force or belt your vocals which can damage your voice or hinder you from singing for longer, sustained periods.

In this lesson, we'll also cover what your chest voice and falsetto are. And towards the end, I’ll give you one of my favorite vocal exercises to help you strengthen your head voice each day. Don’t miss this one!

Thanks for all of your videos, I used to suck at singing and I've been doing your exercises for a year and a half and my range is from G2- F5 or G#5 if I consentrait. Thank, I'm a 16 year old boy and when I sing I feel confident.

I can't really tell if I'm using my chest voice or not when I hit higher pitches, and often when I try your exercises, I find myself naturally going into falsetto. I don't know what it's supposed to feel like to achieve a head voice.

I think this video has finally helped me realise (after literally years!) that there’s a distinction between head voice and falsetto - some people use the terms interchangeably as though they’re the same thing but I guess not. I always seemed to only have two choices when trying to sing higher: pull chest voice and sound strained or flip to falsetto and sound ridiculous. But this video helped me find that lighter speech-like quality which I guess is true head voice - it’s not that tense flutey sound of falsetto nor trying to hold onto the full strength of chest voice. I always thought I was searching for mixed voice but turns out I probably hadn’t properly found head voice. Now I’ve found it and can know it for what it is, it feels like I can probably strengthen it and then achieve that elusive mixed voice. Exciting!

As far as I can remember, I haven't actually been able to switch into a head voice or even falsetto, singing or not. Nothing I've ever tried ever helps and just end up straining my vocal chords. Gonna try out these exercises and see if they make any difference 👍

The song, "can't help falling in love with you, " by Elvis Presley, sang in chest voice.

I always wondered what actually distinguished chest voice and head voice, then you did the slide with the "ghost" sounds and i imitated you

then i felt it, that weird resonance when the "chest" opens up and resonates, and it made sense why they're distinguished with different names

wow

Thanks for the info, and cudos for getting through this take with only a light chuckle, because some of those sounds must have felt silly to do

I can't do head voice at all and it baffles me. It's just shaky air. I've had people tell me it's easy, just position it in the nose and create power using the diaphragm but nope there's nothing there. I've tried to find it for years but I don't understand.

Aha I love that you mentioned MGK, I sing to instrumentals all the time but whenever I start doing punk rock I get all sorts of strain going on and ironically MGK is one of my favourite artists in that genre.

I live in mixed voice. I doubt I’ve ever hit head voice.
