My story is similar in the sense of loosing a love for science, and using the idea of becoming a doctor as a form of validation of becoming the first doctor in my family. Also bring from the south, I had no idea what other career fields are out there. It took me until my late 20s to really discover that I like PR work!

Wow! Your story is similar to mine. I was a biology major, failed many classes and had difficulty with the university. It took me years before I had bravery to start studying again, because of my failures. I just recently decided to be brave and do the thing I wanted to do but never dared. Be involved with something related to media. I ended up choosing a year unit in PR recently. It's just a year unit, and I'm testing if I like it or not. So far, it seems fun. I confess that I'm scared, because of my previous failures.

I am a recent BA graduate and start a MA in Public relations this fall. I really enjoy the concept o public relations and marketing, but chose to go into PR as I preferred the concept of building brand trust and reputation, creating creative campaigns as apposed to working towards sales figures. However, I am now worried that i made the wrong choice as I can be a little shy at times and am not the person who can walk into a room with the confidence to walk up to everybody and start conversations.
