Its not a joke. The 1798 Enemies Act imprisoned 120k Japanese Americans in my home town in Idaho. ALL US CITIZENS!

The fact people watched that rally yesterday and really thought "Yeah, these are our guys for sure" is pretty terrifying.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

If what happened at MSG surprises anyone, you haven't been paying attention lately.

The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 is EXACTLY what it says it is ... an Act allowing the President to arrest, deport or otherwise relocate any/all aliens over age 14 "from an enemy country." So, who is going to define the "enemy countries"???

Brought tears to my eyes that line "throw your arms around the people that need us the most and hold on tight".

That last bit was powerful. "Do not let them exhaust you" Don't fall into apathy, face it head on. Such a well-spoken, powerful statement. I have been feeling exhausted but now I feel inspired to stay vigilant and engaged. Thank you for that.

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” This country’s greatness and true genius lies in its diversity.

The 1798 Alien and Sedition Act also outlaws the criticism of the federal government. This is something that shouldn't be ignored. Especially anyone who believes in and supports free speech.

You nailed it.
"It will happen to them, not me"

But the line between "them" and "me" is thinner than they think.
