Jessica, that way of paying off mortgage at an earlier stage is not uncommon. Even doubling your monthly mortgage payment on a 20-year mortgage can reduce it to 10 years. Sometimes, some of these mortgage companies can slap some penalty for paying it off early so it's good to check with them just like Jessica did with hers. Good presentation, Jessica. Keep educating Ghanaians on some of these issues.

So what I concluded is that the real secret to paying off your mortgage early is to have access to side hustles that can bring in huge (I e. $10k-$20k) bulk sums and make large reductions on the outstanding sum. It also means that you need a good enough job to be able to secure the mortgage in the first place.

Perhaps a follow up video for those who don't have such fortunes, showing an alternative way to pay off risky mortgages quickly?
But please make clear - mortgages in foreign denominations is extremely risky due to exchange rate volatility.
I would guess there are far more failure stories than success stories when this route is utilised.
