“Look at all the stuff I’ve been grinding for” and 99% of it never gets used.

Those 3 down weeks where the only thing to do was “wait until act 2” really did a number on the community.

I believe Dr. Seuss' quote is a genuine piece of advice here, *"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."*
I am extremely happy and proud where this game started and where it is now. In this day and age where some games just virtually die in 1 patch or on launch day. I played this god damn game in middle school and I believe most reading would feel this sentiment. It's just an emotional journey and we don't want to let go of it, but we should remember to look behind our shoulder and see how far it has gone and be glad the memories and feelings and emotions it has cemented in our brain. Our brain is so powerful to replay those emotions and feelings and it's scary how powerful the mind truly is the more you think about. My favorite memories will always be getting the Hammer of Sol the first time. The feeling of being invincible having access to the last element that the other 2 classes had and if felt illegal. Seeing the hive get light powers the feeling of dread and betrayal and the anticipation of showing them what the "crucible is all about". I will forever cement this game as one of my favorites until I grow old and die. This game will literally be MY boomer shooter to my grandkids. It's weird being in that position now and it feels comforting knowing how some of my older relatives might've felt when they shared a memorable game they had in their childhoods.

I’m indifferent to staying with D2 or getting a D3, but if we do get a D3 it needs to be designed from the beginning to last over 10 years. I’m fine with a D3, but I don’t want to ever hear about a D4, D3 needs to be the final game and the entire next saga should be part of that game.

A part of me wants to grind for everything all over again but an even a bigger part of me doesn't want to farm everything back for 5 years

For me, it's not destiny itself. It's me, I am 28 and my habits and the things I want in life are changing. I do miss when I was 18 and the excitement I felt when I saw a Xur video and realized he was selling Icebreaker. I miss that feeling of excitement. In destiny 2 right now it is still fun but there's only so much hours in the day that I kinda wanna just go out and live a little more than to just game at the house.

"I'll say what others won't" proceeds to say what tonnes of others have been saying for ages.

Here’s my personal theory:
These three episodes (echoes, revenant, and heresy) is humanity cleaning up or getting our house in order and then frontiers is going to be all about leaving the Sol system to expand our new alliance. Helping our allies reclaim their home worlds (Riis for Mithrax and house light and Torobatl for the cabal) and turning them into other capitals for our alliance. This could also allow us to potentially visit places like Fundament or other places that we have heard about in the lore.
That’s just my theory though.

Seasonal models suck in general when major lore is removed at the end of the year. New players are extremely confused as to what the hell is going on in this “evolving” world

If a Destiny 3 were to come out it’ll just be years of D1 and D2 content being added over time and it’ll be missing some QoL features D2 has then we’re back in the same boat in a couple years.

If Destiny 3 comes out eventually, Bungie needs a type of war table like in Helldivers 2, where a particular event happened on certain planets, reclaiming land from a specific faction on those planets, and having a type of gamemaster instead of being a static world where the vast majority of events are explained through dialogue

This is reminiscent of Guild Wars 1 dying for GW2. All these years later people still play GW1. The “team”build crafting in GW was awesome. Being able to add hero’s and customize their entire build for battles was epic for solo players. No LFG needed.

I don’t want another reissued Hung Jury. A new installment would mean rebinding things we have now.

Also, base D2 was empty. Imagine having to build things up again.

It would be nice if we would be able to actually go back and complete previous campaigns..

And places.
Heck even old strike versions.

I remember before Lightfall the red legion strikes still had Cayde-6's voice actor in them.

As a returning playing with final shape i understand the folks who are burnt out on this destiny 2 model currently. but coming from other games that are currently falling apart with no content release cycle or any clear idea as to what is ahead for the next 8 to 12 months. i am over the moon with what destiny 2 has to offer me after being away for 3 years. in those 3 years i played new world for 3000 hours i grinded that game and the devs have given up on it. i know destiny doesnt have the best rep from the long time players currently but i think that there is alot here still. im having fun with the echos content. once the acts story cycles come out together instead of week to week i think things will flow a little better. i dont want to call the destiny 2 players spoiled but this game has a very organized structure to its content release cycle and it is a breath of fresh air coming from a game like new world. where a road map is put out and all but like 3 items are psuhed to later releases or thrown out all together. things might be different atleast for me once i get through the 3 years of content i havent completed yet but for now im here to stay and im back to game i called home for 6 to 7 years.

I’m with cross. I didn’t buy original destiny for a couple of weeks after it released. Was genuinely uninterested. Until I played it on my lunch break at a friends house. The gunplay and movement felt so good. Been hooked since

The problem with episoded is that the pacing is identical to seasons except we have a month long gap in between acts that has no reason to exist
