I like to sand the copper first before I cut it. I found it makes it easier job.

Hit a water line in my back yard and needed to temporarily cut water to just that section of the house. This worked perfectly until I can learn how to do the permanent fix. Thank you!

It is ok for temporary, but dead leg of water line should not be longer than 1.5x diameter of the pipe. Otherwise, you will have section of pipe with trapped water collecting debris and will contaminate water in the pipe.

What is the point in the depth gauge? And wouldn’t it make more sense to mark your depth before the cut. I don’t plumb so genuinely don’t know

Sharkbites are money makers for plumbers, because they fail under cold temperatures. They are considered a temporary solution. Flooding usually happens when Sharkbites fail.

Going through all that, there's no water flowing, so why not just solder on a cap? I've seen shark bite caps used on pipes with flowing water for "temporary".

I recently had a walk in shower installed in my condo. The company wanted to used shark bite connectors for the copper to PEX transition. I told them many times I don't mind PEX but no shark bite transition. I know that there are copper to PEX unions.

Don't copper pieces/shavings drop down into the pipe when you deburr and sand it like that?

Personally I would solder. Unless you are just doing a temp repair.

I fucking knew this guy would use a shark bite. I swear to god. Had all the opportunity to sweat or atleast pro press considering this guy tries to sell his plumbing course online.
