Earthworks Ethos for VO... Wow!

My first real look and listen at what the @EarthworksAudio Ethos offers for VO, and all I can say is, How is this just a $399 microphone? More detailed review including my settings and how I get this sound out of the Ethos coming soon, but I wanted to share with you my first real impressions of how this baby sounds for voice over.

This is my favorite mic in my tool box! Magic for voice overs, I even did a video where I recorded the performance this mic in a SR117 review for a stage mic for vocal performances...and it blew me away! Just magical regardless of how I tested it! I am curious, I am doing a video review of this mic after having it and using it for months in different projects, may I use a clip of your review regarding the ethos as an expert voice-over take on this mic? using a clip of 1:24 - 1:44 minute mark??

I could reach into the black windscreen and remove the extra foam layer..., and now the mic sounds really good, and also looks good as it was meant to look. Thanks.

First - wow! I listened with great pleasure from beginning to end, as your voice rolled smoothly and clearly through the your speech. Woooow!
Secondly, a shootout with 416.
Thirdly, the devil is already whispering in your ear, but what if you replace the Ethos small capsule with big one Heizerman or MAIKU ?

Wow it’s so precise, and silent. When recording with the 416 i always use the Rode WS7 deluxe windshield and it compensates for the extra presence we don’t enjoy.. kind of.. lol

Pretty great find Mark! On first listen, i like it more than the 1973. I gather you arent using the same chain as the 017
that we’ve talked about. Curious how you might’ve modified things for this one, and if you find it needing any major
EQ to get to the sound here, or is it mostly the mic’s character itself? Agreed, really nice mic👍🏼😉

Hello! Great mic, I just purchased it for 399 =) I heard many times that this mic can be used with any audio interface, so I'm planning to buy an m-track solo with it because I'm on a budget, or should I aim for something like Universal Audio Volt 1. I checked lots of videos comparing them, and to me, m-track solo can run Earthworks Ethos, what do you think?
