Earthworks Ethos & Icon Pro vs MYN Katana for VO

Let's bring the MYN Katana VO mic prototype back into the booth for a friendly head to head against both the @EarthworksAudio Ethos and Icon Pro. What do you think?

So, I want to like the Katana, because it must be complicated, to say the very least, to build your own sound like that, I mean, your own mic. Seriously impressive. I can’t put my finger on it, but your mic is one or two tweaks away from being better than the 416, to my ear, anyway, going by your past vids with the 416, which to me sounds pretty damn good on your voice. In my opinion, the Ethos definitely wins this one. However, I also think the 416 is still one of the best sounding for you, and the Soyuz. But the Ethos is right up there. Great situation to be in!

How do you track which mic you used for which gig, Mark? (For pickups and the like)

Its sounds a little bit too bright. Ethos sounds smoother and warmer.

Katana wins for commercial reading. I don't think I'd like it as much for longform narration.

I bet there's a warehouse somewhere with a crate full of those old mics...
