GET AWESOME (THG) HOMEWORKGUY MERCHANDISE. SHOW DEALERS YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF YOUR NEXT CAR DEAL!

The Homework Guy Team publishes videos to help Car Buyers. We don’t hate Car Dealerships. Instead, we represent Car Buyers, a goal that’s often in direct conflict with Car Dealer goals.
A CAR DEALER WANTS TO:
1. SELL every car for the Highest Possible Price.
2. CONVINCE Car Buyers to use Dealer affiliated Lenders / Banks.
3. LOAD every Car Deal full of Fees and Finance Products.
4. OFFER Lowball numbers on every Trade Vehicle.

THE HOMEWORK GUY TEAM (THG) HELPS CAR BUYERS TO:
1. BUY a Car from Dealers or Private Party Sellers at the Lowest Price.
2. PAY Cash or Finance with their own Bank or Credit Union.
3. DECLINE Dealer Fees and Finance Products.
4. TRADE / SELL their current vehicle for the Best Value.

THG didn’t give Car Dealers their Bad Reputation. For more than 40 years, dealerships have EARNED it by being the masters of predatory selling. They stalk victims relentlessly, often ruthlessly treating the most vulnerable car buyers (like seniors, for example) with little or no conscience. Car Dealers and their Finance Officers have no problem creating financial devastation for their customers with over bloated car loans, and often do. While the business has had record setting profits, Dealers never stop telling Car Buyers “We’re losing money!” That’s the bed Car Dealers custom built for themselves. We point out the traps and the flaws of the process, and help car buyers get by all the nonsense without being ripped off. We promote fairness, honesty, and transparency, and we’d love to see a few dealers join our mission!

The Homework Guy Team provides car buying consumers with information, automotive news and updates, industry outlook, buying and selling advice, and other help to level the tables. The public face of THG is Kevin Hunter and the master negotiator, Elizabeth. Tons of time and research goes into every show, planning for weeks, several projects always on the table, all with the goal of getting it exactly right. From Automotive News Updates to vehicle shopping advice and assistance, The Homework Guy Team is the best there is.

That salesman is EXACTLY why I get all my car deals done by phone / email.

I watched it at a dealer with their Internet!

If you are a young person or someone who is easily intimidated, take someone else with you car shopping who is not easy to intimidate.

Thank you so much for not having annoying background music. I want to listen to your content. If I wanted to listen to music I'd listen to a music channel. Many times I've stopped listening to a channel because it was impossible to concentrate on their content because of background music blaring at me.

Whenever I'm in the process of buying or leasing a vehicle, I have one non-negotiable rule: PLEASE DO NOT WASTE MY TIME! I make this abundantly clear at the very beginning of the process, whether it's over the phone or at the dealership. By this time, I've already done all of the research on the vehicle(s), have test driven them, and I know what I'm willing to pay for them. If I detect even the slightest hint of my time being wasted on any sort of bullshit, I'm out the door, never to return. If everyone did this, the industry as a whole would get the message loud and clear.

Just bought my first car thanks to your channel! I was surprised to find a salesman who actually didn’t get on my nerves and I’m really happy with the deal. They didn’t try to add ANY fees, the doc fee was a little high but I decided to just give it to him for how easy the deal went. The finance guy said he wanted to go home to watch golf, so he didn’t try very hard to add the extras.

Can you do the same video but Basically showing how to respond as soon as he says what he says and making it look like an actual conversation. Going back and forth 🤔. And cutting them off and you guys taking control.

So much excellent advice on this channel. If you're gonna buy, watch all this channel's videos.

Great videos. Purchased a car a couple of weeks ago and you guys saved me hundreds. Shot down the silly fees and I could see the finance manager getting disappointed as the fees flew away.

I’ve done that before as a consumer. What I discovered is no sales person knows their product anymore. They, themselves have to read a brochure or study the window sticker to see what comes on the vehicle. They no longer know what model has what options, etc. they are merely guides.

I made a 5% lower counteroffer on the first presented deal. The salesman said he wouldn't deal. He literally said that. We walked out. Lots more 'dealers' out there, who actually deal. Fortunately, a new car is a 'nice to have' for us, not a necessity. Thanks for your great advice, Kevin and Liz.

Dealers in my area (Las Vegas) don't do intimidation, at least not in my personal experience recently. Their approach is very straightforward: 1. Here's the vehicle price (MSRP) 2. There are dealer add-ons which cost X. 3. Taxes and doc fees and license fees are Y. 4. 1 + 2 + 3 is the total selling price. 5. Take it or leave it...they don't care either way

Thanks for your help. I agree best way to find a salesperson who cares is to call about an issue. Usually you won’t even get a call back. When the car clears the stealerships driveway they have already forgotten your name!

Hi Kevin and team, you guys are great... Why don't you make an ultimate play role video showing the amazing Elizabeth walking through a dealer from the second she walks in to the dealership all the way to shopping, drive test, price negotiation, up to the second she leaves the dealer with a deal. That video would be gold generator for us and you. Keep it up folks!

Good video with great info. One thing to remember is you don't need to buy a vehicle from them, but they need you to buy a vehicle from them.

One of the foundation stones of sales psychology is overcoming objections. This is what inevitably happens. The sales person expects you to have objections. The salesperson puts lots of energy into overcoming objections. One of the first things sales people are taught is that [ NO ] is not a barrier like a brick wall. It is more like a plastic orange traffic cone that you merely have to walk around.

You will definitely go to heaven some day. You have saved so many of us from these creeps.

The dealer loves to hold your id or keys to the trade in vehicle, prevent that and when you say no, GO...
