This is the most complete and thorough video introducing wet-shavers to straight razor shaving and giving the right basic instruction. Congratulations on an excellent piece of communication. Very clear and helpful. Thank you.

I just started shaving sr, myself. I love the discipline it takes, and the actual shave is so therapeutic! I use a dovo solingen carbon steel. It's so class, and I feel like a total gentleman shaving with it.

Wow this channel and this gentleman is by far the best of the best in YouTube for learning I've seen some other good videos of other persons.of shaving tips like geofatboy and nickshaves and they're good but this man is by far the most experienced teacher in the group I'm happy with this channel and have no need to keep searching for a better one i will definitely recommend it to anyone it has changed the way i used to shave with those 5 blade disposables gilletes thumbs up to this man

Great video! I'm glad to finally see you shave with a straight. I must confess, I too rarely get the quality of shave as I do with my Merkur Progress, but the sheer enjoyment of shaving the way my grandfather did makes me feel rather nostalgic. I always look forward to your videos.

Will you be making a follow-up video on sharpening, and other maintenance techniques of straight razors?

Ive had my feather for yrs. Great balance between ease of use and a straight.

Really nice job on this video. You took a task that has facts based on preference, feel, and comfort and streamlined them into a very basic, easy to comprehend, non intimidating video. Well done.

If anyone was wondering, the black and white shaving scene was from a French movie called 'ah, la barb'

I remember I was curious about straight razor shaving and wanted to try it back then. One thing I found out when I was researching was, the lather used in safety razor and straight razor are different. cause with SR shaving, the angle is steep unlike safety razor where it is around 30 degrees. With SR, the blade angle is close to the skin and you need a thin and slick lather so it will glide. That's why a soap is recommended with SR shaving iirc. check the vids made by Lynn from SRP.

Great to see you over from the dark side! You have obviously been working very hard before putting it to final cut. Well done!

Nice vid. I haven't tried it yet, it's been only 6 months since I got my 1st safety razor.

Quality shave soap or cream, applied with a brush. Check out some of Mantic's earlier videos. I like Mitchell's Wool Fat, and Cella.

I have been shaving with a DE for about 6 years (thank you Mantic!) And am just now going to give cut throats a try. I'm starting with a shavette though.

Thank you. I just grove mustache and thus do not have to bother with shaving that hard area. :-) Also, I have bought myself a starting kit to start shaving with a straight razor. Thank you for this video.

You can buy a topical cream like tag away (an example, i don't endorse the product) and your skin tag will fall off... easy .

@gabusoo Lather should'nt be too thick for a straight razor. Slickness is the key, not thicknes
