At first glance, the words "Blood Eagle" seems like a badass bird of prey.

The blood Eagle was so called, because once the actual ritual was performed, the victim would live for hours, and with every breath he took, his lungs would inflate and deflate, looking like a pair of wings flapping. A hilarious day out for the whole family.

Oh god I knew the “blood eagle” was coming when the narrator brought up the Vikings. I actually watched the Viking tv series and they had two counts of this punishment. Nasty stuff
