So Miyazaki didn't want to make another Dark Souls game... But he actually really wanted to make another Dark Souls game.

Definitely noticed a lot of recycled elements. But given the level of scale they're trying to achieve, we can only kind of hope that the shortcuts were justified... but yeah, they certainly did graft from a lot of their latest games for sure.

Hopefully the scythe reposte animation will be different.

Fromsoft recycling animations is pretty much a classic, seems a bit jarring in this side by side and I wish there were some slight touch-ups to things like drinking an estus, but recycling old stuff also gives more time for you to add more new stuff, so hopefully there are going to be many fresh weapons and we of course have the horse combat!

Miyazaki 2016: "this is the last DS"
Miyazaki 2021: "hold my beer..."

Honestly, im not at all bothered by the reused animations. I just dont think its that big of a deal imo. Besides, they look a lot smoother than they do in DS3.

That big two hand swing is lifted straight from the GS moveset, and I feel like Midir would've been a better comparison for some of these animations tbh

We'll get our hands on Elden Ring before we ever get our hands on a PS5 to play Demon Souls Remake.

the dragon shown is literally the son of Midir and Storm king

the skeleton tapping his head caught me off guard when it first happened

It's kinda funky and almost jarring. I see Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 2 (especially in certain aesthetics), Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro and it's all been slammed together.
There are clearly many shared assets, so let's hope they introduced enough new things and mixed the existing stuff in a way that still makes for a new experience.

A more accurate comparison between the dragons would be between Elden Ring Dragon and Midir, I've played Ringed City a fuck ton and I knew the animations and the attack patterns the second they were shown, not really a negative for me either since Midir is the absolute goat of dragon Bossess.

The elden ring jump animation is literally the milwood axe weapon art

Adds:
-crafting
-horse back combat
-new and interchangeable weapon arts
-new spells
-Weather systems
-Flaura and Fauna
Combines:
-Sekiro's jump and sneak with Ds3 combat (which was already Ds+BB)
Rehuses:
-general Fromsoft animations but with more polish

Dudes here: OMG its the same game just a ds3 DLC 😭😭😭😭😭😭

One of my favorite things shown in the trailer is that soulmass bow spell thingy used by the player. It just looks so cool!!!

3:35 finally some NPCs with dedicated riposte poses instead of the usual animation reset/T-Pose (there are still some NPCs that still retain their T-Posing reset when riposted)

It feels to me like elden ring is to dark souls what darks souls is to demon souls. spiritual successor which is basically the same game but with new mechanics and different but similar lore
