We were looking for a cheap, practical and extremely reliable car earlier this year. After watching Matt's videos on cheap, reliable cars we went for a 2011 Civic, 1.8 petrol, manual.

Absolute beast of a car. Ridiculously practical. The rear seats fold completely flat or go vertical which is insanely useful. It's basically a hatchback with the load capacity of an SUV. I'm 6'6" and fit in it comfortably. 40mpg and runs absolutely perfectly.

Also, it looks nice but attracts no attention so we're happy leaving it wherever.

I'd 100% recommend one if anyone wants a well priced (£3500-4000) car. Also, cheers to Matt for the recommendation!

Very interesting content Matt! More of this, please 🙏🏻. More for car enthusiasts. Your credibility is already earned, and your presentation style is down to talent and thus enjoyable.

When i think bang for your buck, i think a 2005 toyota corolla with 60k miles for 1500 quid, ya can get well over 100k miles out of it and is what i call value for money.

Love your channel Matt. Please do a similar video with less expensive cars to maintain (non Merc, BMW or sports cars) for under 20K

How about a ‘tales from the trade’ series? Awkward moments, disastrous deliveries, crazy customers. The motor trade never failed to entertain me when I was in it.

I really enjoy your videos Matt. Whether it's sourcing cars for a friend or turning a car around or searching the Web for different types of car. Great channel. 👍

Interesting. But I'm not currently in the position to associate 'bang for your buck' with £38K unfortunately. Currently looking for a replacement for my aging GTV for up to 20K though.

I guess a point to remember is that although heavily depreciated luxury cars have serving costs that shouldn't be hugely higher than lesser marques, if things break, replacement parts prices can still be reflective of the original price of the car eg best to follow Matt's advice from his videos to buy something like this where you can have, at the outset, a decent reserve fund for the inevitable expensive parts replacement/ labour. For me, the BMW 7-series would be the one I'd have. They'll never look dated to my eyes. Amateur Question : Best to buy something like these cars from a dealer so that you have some form of useful guarantee that it will work beyond the first week ? Note : I know nothing

I always think an older Maserati would be nothing but unreliable, probably unwarranted but that's the feeling I get in my bones.

Love this. Would love you to do one that’s under £10k

Hi Matt, on the day of Charlies Coronation at the age of 67, I bought my first ever "not that sensible car for £18, 000, a 2015 435D Gran Coupe 435D XDRIVE M SPORT finished in Estoril Blue metallic with full Ivory Dakota leather interior, 74, 000 on the clock and I just can't get enough of it - pop it in Sports mode and hit the peddle and it's like engaging warp drive - I was originally looking for a decent 6 Series Gran Coupe after seeing your video on them but couldn't find the spec I wanted, but to be honest the 4 Series fit's the bill perfectly 😃

It would be interesting if you did a video of what dealers take notice of when they are looking at a car on paper rather than in the flesh, what are the red flags and particular stats that should worry us tourists but we're usually not aware of.

recently bought a SSAYONG TIVOLI for the missus. she loves it, great mileage plenty of tech. and its only cost me 8k for a diesel with 43k miles full service history defiantly bang for your buck.

Hard to believe that this is a you tube channel it's so well put together and presented it could easily be a TV program.... It's a joy to watch I really enjoyed the MR2 video 👌👌

Class video again Matt !! Really makes you think where to put your cash on selection.
Last 5 years I've had a Audi TTS, FK8 Civic Type R, BMW M140i, Toyota GR Yaris, Cupra290 and a Hyundai I20N.
Just swapped out into a Kia Stinger GTS. A hell of of a car for the money, a hidden gem thats rare too....still with 3 years warranty left too !

Another good idea for a little series. Maybe you could do different budgets, i.e. best bargains under £4k, under £8k, under £12k etc.

Great list, think the Jaguar F-Type is also a bargain. 25k for a 2014 3 litre supercharged V6. Gorgeous sports car, 50k miles

I went from AUDI S5 to AUDI S7 as my daily last year. $1000 tune (via phone with options for a subtle crackle etc) at Stage one takes it to 580HP, replace one of the resonators for an X-Pipe, a $400 AppleCarplay interface and it makes a very compelling proposition. Actual proper buttons, ivory leather interior, Thermal Imaging camera (kid you not) and its a terrific and compelling 4 wheel drive 5 door hatchback. The problem is - where to next? I probably have to double what I paid to make a discernible upgrade. Fortunately I have a little NA MX5 for the weekend, and an old diesel Disco for the fishing and bush. New Zealand says hello!

Cheers Matt. Good information and good to watch as always. Any chance of a episode about ev’s and the state of the used car market regarding them?
