Firestone Indy 500’s are one of the most slept on tires. They handle amazing in everything besides snow. Amazing handling with superb water evacuation. I work for Bridgestone of America and I hate it when I don’t see them mentioned anywhere cause they are genuinely awesome tires.

Thumbs up for Hankook ventus 2's ... I've been riding on them for about 50K miles on my wrx Daily and they still have a couple seasons of tread left and were very reasonably priced. Good in snow rain summer anytime! I blew out about 5 or 6 stock dunlop tires from potholes before researched options then after I switched I haven't blown one hankook yet (knock on wood)

I wrapped millions of rubber bands on my wheels. Works pretty great

I don't have a car and my parents refuse to let me get my license... That said my imaginary tire setup is perfect

I used to have Michelin Pilot Sport tires on 18" TSW Mirabeau wheels. They were the best tires I ever used, they had INSANE grip and were also very smooth. Only downside is they don't last very long. Totally worth it though!

I'm currently using Dunlop Direzza DZ102 tires on 20" Work Durandal wheels (As Alex would say, "Stretchy bois"). This setup is still pretty good and sits flush on my Q50 but still will never compare to how great the Michelins were.

I have the Yokohama tires and they are great! I love them. And they are super competitively priced. I got all 4 for about $450

Car 1: 2017 C7 Z06, OEM tires: Michelin Pilot Super Sport; overwhelmined by the Vette, Sucks in rain, sucks in temps under 50!
Car 2. 2019 Mustang Bullitt OEM tires: Michelin Pilot Sport 4s; AWESOME in everything... BUT I just installed CS-11 20" soooo I went with Continental Extremecontact DSW 6. They're 90% as good as the MPS4s BUT at half the price!

I bought the Extensa HP II and drove them for the first time when in the rain, horrible conditions, rain, wind and cold. I tires held up really well! I recommend them.

Current tires
Winter: Hankook iCept RS2, comfortable and quiet, handle well and are very predictable; wet performance is awesome, you can't even tell wet and dry apart most of the time, dry is ok, steering response is fairly quick though grip isn't on par with summer tyres, but they are always predictable and safe. Snow grip is crazy, I drove over 200km on snow in a day in a variety of conditions and even when I pushed them they never slipped a bit, just some ABS action when hard braking, the car was on rails. Ice performance was really good as well, took pretty fast an off camber corner that was icy and with a bit of ESP help the car followed the line I decided, when I came back that same way a car took that corner and went on the curb pretty hard, whereas I managed to stop in time to not have him hit me. The only negative is the increased fuel usage, down by 1km/l on average compared to my summer tires.
Summer: Bridgestone Ecopia EP150, stock tires that came with my car, wish I changed them when I bought it like I usually do, grip is really good in wet and dry and they allow a bit of liftoff oversteer while being controllable, however they're way too harsh for Italian roads, you really notice a difference when switching to winter tires; they are also noisier at higher speeds. They're not bad tires, they're bad for our roads.

Might buy a 30+yo Mercedes W124 soon and can't wait to put some fire tires under it!

My tire set up is 4 mismatched, dry rotted tires all within range regarding size.

Michilen Pilot Sport 4s. They grip under damn near everything you throw at them. were expensive but definitely worth the money.

For a summer tire. The firestone firehawk indy 500 is a great bang for your buck tire. I’ve got them on my focus. They’re loads better than the Goodyear Eagle F1’s that came on it. More grip, quieter, better in the wet.

I'd argue the Continental ExtremeContact Sport is currently the king of the value hill for true performance tires with regard to what you pay vs. the performance you get. I've driven about 200k miles on the older Continental DWS and newer DWS 06. I agree with your assessment 100%. It is a respectable performer for an UHP all-season, it's cold weather/cold precipitation performance is exceptional, but it's warm weather performance leaves something to be desired, and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ is wayyyy ahead of it in the warm performance category (but A/S3+ is pricier). That said, I prefer a true summer performance tire on my fun car and run the PSS and A052.
