From trophy pose to ball hitting is roughly about .7 to -.9 secounds and now imagin the time it would take to switch from racquet being on edge to hitting is .01 sec. One must be that perfect to hit perfect serve.

Great video Nate! I know I have hitches that I need to iron out and this is giving me the answers I need. It's super helpful to see the steps separated and hear your analysis with all the connective tissue. Well done and thank you!

How far does the right shoulder and elbow have to go back to get to the racquet drop?

Hello Nate,
Please can you explain where yo hit the ball to have a kick/flat/slice serve?
Everyone is speaking about "8 to 2" or "3 o'clock in a case of slice" but in reality it is not like that, i see more Kick as "10 to 11 o'clock"...

i have a dennis shapovalov (or pre-2010 djokovic) serve where I the hitting side of the racket faces the back fence during takeback. How do i fix that?

Nice video. Asked this in another video but is the swing path of the arm to ball contact more at a 45 angle than a straight line? I can’t figure that part out and end up with weak serves if I’m doing the latter I believe. Thanks

Problem I have is when I physically try to move arm right to left my elbow doesnt come forward and up, or when I try to lead with elbow I get stuck in the drop as it isnt natural. Only thing that works at all is trying to do all the other things with legs and hip turn, getting into a strong trophy and try to be loose as can be and I get a little bit of a racket drop but nowhere near as good as my shadow swing. I served wrong for years, seems impossible to break muscle memory.

Love your serve Nate it is powerful very efficient no extemporaneous movement very clean. To build an excellent serve how many balls should someone serve on a monthly basis ?

Nate I have a hard time coordinating my legs and using the ground force with the ball toss it feels like the timing is always off. Any advice ? Also my legs are usually pretty straight how do I start to get some knee bend to develop some push off ? It's just not a natural movement for me unfortunately. I guess I am so worried about the ball toss that my legs usually don't get involved as they should.
