Volume of a Pyramid | MathHelp.com

This lesson covers the volume of a pyramid. Students learn that the formula for the volume of a prism is length times width times height, so the volume of a prism that has a length of 25 inches, a width of 4 inches, and a height of 9 inches, is 25 times 4 times 9, or 900 cubic inches. Students also learn that the formula for the volume of a cube is side length cubed, and the formula for the volume of a pyramid is 1/3 times the area of the base times the height of the pyramid. Students are then asked to find the volume of prisms, cubes, and pyramids.

Multiply 8×7=56. Then you times 56×12=672. You divide 672÷3 because of the 1/3. You get 224. Plain and simple. She just confused me.

Is the pyramid height same as the literal height of the triangle? Which height should be used?

But what if the base is a square instead of a rectangle 🤔?

how are you able to complicate this, and why do you say to be aware of 1/3 and forget it? the values are not seperated and is all on big product?

You can't "just" write down 'A = lw' only to then use 'yd' as an acronym and not a variable.
(8yd)(7yd) means something completely different than the words you spoke with it.
Very confusing for a otherwise simple problem.

Your solution is right but u say that 12×1/3 but the correct answer is your going to divide the 12÷1/3and the answer is 4😊

Why don't you divide 56/3 and then multiply it by 4?

The pyramid volume is - 1/2 base area X height.
Create a wooden pyramid then measured it by using my formula then dip the wooden pyramid object in the water.
The water displce is the real volume of the wooden pyramid object. Thank you!!!
