Basically, to look up into space and say “there is nothing else out there, especially a god.” Still requires a burden of proof. How can you be so sure that there is nothing greater out there?

This is the most brilliant thing I have ever heard. Thank you Dr. Craig. This clears up so much.

As an atheist myself, I do not think any god that has been defined and presented to me is even possible, most if not all of the definitions that I have been presented with are internally inconsistent, full of nonsense and are mostly improbable, thus I am justified in rejecting them all until such a time as where good evidence is provided.

Atheism relates to belief. Gnosticism twisted to knowledge. Poor Craig misses the mark here. Atheists simply reject God claims. Proving that an undetectable entity doesn't exist is pure insanity.

I found it easy to flip atheist claims to show their weaknesses :)
Example: I lack belief in the natural origin of the universe. (And theists can actually support that reasonably.)

A wonderful person who is extremely passionate and wise about his work in Christian Apologetics. He is very knowledgeable about all aspects of philosophy and Christian teachings.

That's the thing, atheists can't give any good reasons as to why they believe that God doesn't exist.

It's always good to back up your arguments whether for god's existence or against it. But "god does not exist" wouldn't exist as a counterclaim if someone didn't bring up such a god does exist to begin with. The counterclaim is dependent on the claim not a stand alone statement of disbelief. If there was no claim god existed, there wouldn't be an "I don't know." What do you "not know" if nothing existed?

The trendy thing to say now for the atheist camp is that they now call themselves “Agnostic Atheists” they say “I don’t believe there is a God but I’m not sure”.

Ask an atheist. They will tell you their lack of belief in a god is due to the lack of compelling evidence of a god. It’s as simple as that Craig. 🤣🤣You like to hear yourself talk. 😂😂

A little off topic but, disbelief of a claim is NOT a counter claim to be proven true or false.

The incredible hoops that theists will jump through in order to avoid having to prove their claim to be true.

I ask "can you prove god exists" and for some reason these people think "can YOU prove that he doesn't?" is some sound and even remotely useful response. I don't care about what can't prove wrong, there are countless things in the universe that I can't prove wrong, doesn't make any of them right.

Atheism is a claim about oneself, for example:
“I do not believe in god.”
This statement is true because it’s about my state of mind. You can either accept that I’m telling you the truth about me or call me a liar I guess, but the conversation isn’t going very far.

Craig is right. Atheism isn't a suspension of judgment, that's agnosticism. Steve McRae had good stuff on this as well

Theism and atheism deal with belief...not knowledge....not believing does not have a burden of proof...since knowledge is a subset of belief, the person who believes bears a burden of proof...

It's important to remember that to Craig, atheism can only mean "Belief that God does not exist" which is the only definition his faith allows him to consider. One of many, many reasons his apologetics are trash.

I literally had this question in my mind for days. Because it seems convincing at first that atheism is the default position due to naturalism, that we know natural things exist but God requires evidence.

However... there have been things atheists admit they do not know such as the origin of the universe, origin of life, miracles etc. Therefore, atheism is a belief just like theism.

It's such a tired old argument. I don't believe in god, call me what makes you happy I guess.

Atheism is not a position that gods don’t exist. Although some atheists might hold this belief

How is it possible that Craig doesn’t know what atheism is????

Atheism simply suggests there is no evidence for god.
