But that argument doesn’t explain how god came to be. This argument almost disproves god.

No that’s not a rule of thumb. Causation assumes time and space exist already. Causes need time and place to take place. Everything in space and time have a cause, the burden of proof is on you to show space and time themselves need a cause and what that would even mean. Causes precede events but how can something precede time itself? They are temporal in nature and so can’t be applied to time.

As an atheist, I entirely agree that something caused the universe. And if you define whatever that was as god then god does exist. However, that doesn’t prove it is the god of the Qu’ran (sorry if that is misspelled) as it could be anything else

Just because energy and matter don't "cause themselves", that doesn't mean that they weren't always in existence in some form. And how, exactly, does a God cause himself? How does that work?

You can't prove a negative. Also "I don't know why something happens therefore God did it" is not a good answer for anything.

He not only didn't prove god exists, but also didn't prove even there's a first cause or "the cause of all causes". Plus, it doesn't make sense to say something causes the existence of time because time is necessary for causation. How can anything cause time without time?

That does not prove the existence of god, that proves the existence of cause and they are slapping the label of "god" onto that phenomenon, its the typical strawmanning with world salad that impresses the ignorant and ill considered, I get people don't want the responsibility for their own lives but at least come to an honest conclusion instead of relying on delusional interpretations.

The burden of proof is on the believer, not the unbeliever.
Physics doesn't say there isn't a devine being, but does show there's no proof.
