AskCliffe has a debate about being atheist, being agnostic, atheism, Jesus, and how God is real through love and life. Jesus Christ is God in human form and says so in the Bible through his prayer, faith, and being Catholic and Christian. Are you religious and do you follow religion? #atheist #jesus #god #atheism #christian #islam

Do you believe it's more plausible that there is a God? 👇

This is how it should be. Two men talking respectfully to each other wanting to understand more. Not interrupting each other every second. I just love this.

Im agnostic, grew up cristian, him saying “i envy your faith” hits way too close to home.

love how he presents his argument in a respectful manner, but is always firmly supported

P.S. It's great that you are sharing your personal views, but few are respectful of each other's beliefs. Hard to find a mature audience in a YT comment section.

“I envy your faith” I never heard that statement before and it hit deep, I’m strong in my faith and maybe I take that for granted. I should appreciate that I love God because it’s not easy.

I love how he is asking in a way like he wants to learn. He’s not an atheist but wants to understand why he believes what he does and understand his point of view instead of tricking him into an argument. We need more of this.

1- Because you don't see it with naked eye doesn't mean it doesn't exist, we know about energy because we can see its direct effects and repeat experiences. 2- Love is a chemical reaction, you can simulate the effects of love with drugs because it's physical, you don't love with your "soul" but with your brain and body.
Open for debate but that's my opinion

I’m just so glad no one decided to interrupt anyone else or start yelling, it’s too normalized to have arguments at every turn that we can’t just have civil discussion in the open.

I don’t know (because I was born much later than the original filming of this video) but everyone here seems so much more willing to understand an opposing worldview. The younger gentleman asked the question with genuine curiosity. That’s sad we don’t see that anymore.

Life is derived from organic molecules (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids). Proteins are made from sequences of monomers called of amino acids. Carbohydrates are made from monomers called monosaccharides which have a basic formula of CH2O. Nucleic acids are made from monomers called nucleotides which are made of a sugar (deoxyribose or ribose), phosphate group, and nitrogenous base such as adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine, or uracil. Lipids aren't made of sequences of monomers; instead, lipids have varying molecular structures that can consist of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, nitrogen and other elements. We don't recognize organic molecules as living, but they make up the components of living organisms. So in a sense, 'animate can come from inanimate.' Hope you learned something new!

Actually, in laboratory environments we've observed complex, self-replicating (if I'm not mistaken) protein chains come out of certain conditions, mimicking strands of what could be proto-genetic material. Super interesting if we ever actually SHOW abiogenesis in a lab.

Both argument are easily countered, especially the first one..
1- he said that since in his observed world, only life can produce life, then all life must come from a primal life form, which would be a god, something in motion that spread life that he has within him.
What he forgot is that, in our observed world, life has always a beginning, and an end. So in this logic, this primal life, this god, also has a beginning. In this way, what was there before the beginning ? Nothing ? Then a life came out of nothing ? It's incoherent with the first asumption and then It's proven absurd. That argument has no sense and this was a logic reasonning, so there is no debate to do about it...
2- Love. It's sweet but naive to believe that love is something unnatural, almost divine. It's not because something drive your life that it has a superior meaning you know ? People live for stupid reasons and it's proven that love is merely chemical reaction in our brain to make us reproduce and socialize, since it's the best way for humans to keep spreading lives. I considered this argument however better than the first one since it has the notion of the natural inclination for life to spread hidden within it. This cause is somewhat strange when we consider than in all form of society, an individual life who can't or don't want to reproduce is always put aside. Since we don't know the pure reason behind that, it's not stupid to think that this motivation could have been given to us by something larger.
However the simple "love is strong, love is god" is not convincing at all...

I'm Athiest agnostic, but also a critical thinker.

His first argument, as misinformed as it may be, is incredibly sound. Humans always base their thoughts and actions based on what they have experienced. It's completely sound for him to come to that conclusion.

Second argument is much less solid, but a nice sentiment.

I get the first argument, but the social impact of love can be seen through how humans have evolved to interact with each other. Is it more beneficial for the individual to be alone and solitary all the time with no help? Or is it more beneficial to be part of a community with support systems. I think that is where the feeling of love first evolved from

Now I am a Christian, however, I enjoy that the agnostic man was kind enough to listen. In these videos, the man talking is always getting yelled at by an atheist, so it is a good type of mood change for these videos.
