Guest: Barry Trachtenberg holds the Ruben presidential chair in Jewish history at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. He is a scholar of modern Jewish history, the Nazi Holocaust, and modern Yiddish culture. He is the author of The United States and the Nazi Holocaust, and Holocaust & the Exile of Yiddish. Barry Trachtenberg is a member of the Jewish Voice for Peace Academic Advisory Board and last week submitted expert testimony on the lawsuit filed by the Center for Constitutional Rights seeking an emergency order to stop military and diplomatic support for Israel’s assault on Gaza.

A much larger genocide (300, 000+) occurred in recent years in Yemen at the hand of Saudi Arabia. The US, China, and South Africa all provided weapons to Saudi Arabia during this period.

The problem with the declaration is the use of the empty word “should”. It’s wishy washy and gives no true grounds for law to be built upon. Should means nothing other than an ideal.

I find it strange that the countries who have done it to many places in Africa and North America got to be judges.

It's definitely a heinous thing to do, but it's like Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz, and John Wayne Gacy forming a court on ethics and preservation of life to condemn Jeffrey Dahmer.

High ranking German Nazi war criminals were given key positions (generals and commanders) within the NATO leadership structure. Positions that lasted continuously without interruption for the remainder of the 20th Century.
