Well it was faster, more reliable, safer, better equipped, better finished, more economical, more environmentally friendly, more comfortable, more stable, etc.
It also sold in much larger numbers which is why there are a lot more around and doesn't have 1930's aircooled tech. Current prices reflect that.

Which did/do you own? Better finished? just sit in the 993, close the doors & check out the interior. Then do that in a 996. You will soon see what I am talking about, and realize that you are dead wrong. The 993 is also a much better looking car, but I expect you'll deny that too.

Oh please. Give it a rest. 996's are cheap because there's loads more of them and they're not in the air cooled club. Trying to say a 993 is better finished and more reliable is just stupid.

996 more reliable & better finished than 993? No way. 996's are known for IMS failures & RMS failures, plus a number of issues due to cylinder #6 running too warm. The quality of the parts used in the 993 was also far superior to the cheap stuff in the 996. That's why there are so many cheap 996's out there.
