Absolute Extrema of a Function

This video explains a method for finding the absolute maximum and absolute minimum values on a closed interval using the Extreme Value Theorem. However, we also discuss how to determine whether a function has absolute extreme values on an open interval by analyzing the graph of a function at critical numbers and ends of the graph using its first derivative.
