Although I came from the USA, I was born in Venezuela and the latina in me thought I knew Spain. Living here has allowed me to clear up some stereotypes. There are so many myths about Spain that people believe without question. But how much of it is true, and how much is just… fiction?

En España la comida y la cena no se hacen tarde. Lo que pasa es que en algunos paises se come y se cena demasiado pronto. 🤣😂

Stereotypes are just that... Spain, like any other part of the world, is very diverse. Perhaps what is most annoying is that people believe that people here do not work or are lazy. But without work, just think of a country with 48, 500, 000 inhabitants and that serves more than 85, 000, 000 tourists, not to mention factories, technology, chemistry, naval, etc.; not the first in the world but in many cases in the top 5 in the world. This is not achieved by taking a nap. Por cierto, para mi, uno de tus videos mas interesantes.

Spaniards actualy eat 5 times a day. Desayuno: 7-9 am (depends on your work/school schedule), . usualy light (coffee and toast or similar) Almuerzo/hora bocadillo around 10:30-11am were you will eat a sandwich or pincho . At around 2pm-3pm lunch time. At 6-7 pm: merienda (similar to hora del bocadillo/almuerzo) and finaly dinner/supper starting around 9-9:30pm.

El trabajo empieza a las 8 o 9 en España. 8 horas de jornada laboral. Un mes de vacaciones pagado, y pagas extra. 4 meses y medio de permiso de natalidad para ambos padres.
Creo que no es que en España se trabaje menos, se trabaja mucho, pero no se explota a la gente como en los EEUU. Un trabajador contento rinde más y mejor.

Aclaremos cosas, no entiendo eso de que los españoles desayunan a las 10, am. eso lo hago yo que estoy jubilado, pero toda mí vida de estudiante desayunaba a las 7 o 8, según el horario del colegio, y cuando trabajamos según el trabajo, pues a saber, he estado varios años levantándome a las 6'30 am, y trabajando sábados y domingos, lo de las 10 es hora del almuerzo, y las cenas a la 1 am, sería en tu pueblo, como norma general, lo mas normal las 9, 9'30 pm, en dias laborables y dependiendo del trabajo y su horario

Dejemos claro una cosa los españoles desayunamos desde las 5 de la mañana hasta las 8 ó 9 comp muy tarde lo que pasa es que amlas 10 hasta las doce tomamos un tentepie y comemos o lo que 8:27 llamais almuerzo desde las 14 h hasta las 15 h por regla general luego a las 17 a 18 h merendamos
( Generalmente los niños) Y cenamos a partir de las 21 h

Good video, the only thing I don't agree is with the breakfast. The vast majority of people, non university students and regular workers, have breakfast at 7 am. Foreigners seem to be often students, and digital nomads who mix with cosmopolitans Spanish, but not regular students and workers. Just shops open at 10am, just as the rest of Europe, regular people start working at 8am.

There are lots of regional dances in Spain, flamenco is just the most international, but you got jotas (Castilla, Navarra, Aragón), sevillanas, malagueñas, (Andalucía), zortzikos (Pais Vasco, Navarra).
By the way: i find more lazy anglo-saxon people (i´m living now 13 years in the UK). Stererotypes are just another form of anglo-saxon lazyness.

Thank you so much, very accurate in general. Just two comments, people start to work more like 9 than 10, on average, and have breakfast much earlier, of course (although many people don't have really breakfast before leaving home, which I'll never understand). And the north of Spain is not so rainy as you say. It rains much more than in the south but we also have many sunny days.

Pues yo duermo la siesta siempre que puedo, y toda la gente a mi alrededor también lo hace, salvo alguna excepción. Nosotros los españoles, siempre desdeñando de lo nuestro. La siesta es algo que han copiado otros países e incluido incluso en el trabajo por sus beneficios. Hay mucha gente que no duerme la siesta porque no tiene tiempo, no porque no le guste. Éstos últimos son los menos. También depende mucho de la climatología.Claro que, una cosa es echarse una siesta y otra es dormir la mona 2 horas. A ver si no desdeñamos algo tan nuestro como la siesta
