What is unique about Onstar and GM offering it across all their brands is exactly that - you can get it on any of the cars they sell. No other brand does that except for Subaru now which recently with its system matches GM - on a small number of models. Mercedes, Audi, Lexus - they offer this on some or all of their cars now, but their sister brands (Smart, VW, Toyota) don't offer the same technology. It is what is coming to all the autos now just that GM was first and is much more advanced in most cases because of that early lead starting back in the 1990s.

I love OnStar. Safe and Secure is a great feature. I had an older discontinued OnStar FMV mirror installed on my 2012 Prius. Easy installation. I wish they had not discontinued the FMV mirror as with all the new technology I am sure it would be better ans smaller.

They should allow accident with airbag deployed to all for free and have your auto insurance company pay a flat per incident fee for non members because most people have cell phone for talking or data and directions and dont want to pay double bills just to get the most serious issue of accident assistance…this could also save insurance money and lives.. since its available its a shame not to use it because of cost over risk benefit.. or as a second option im sure the accident victim would gladly pay a small one time fee so why isnt this on the table by law?

Anyone who has Onstar in their GM vehicle, the hands-free calling button that provides a number of minutes to call somebody beside the blue Onstar button is now discontinued. It first came out in 1996. Glad they discontinued the feature because of the amount of money it cost to buy minutes.

My old friend from my high school days explained how on star works with turn by turn hands free calling emergency services turn by turn navigation and virtual advisor I can take a driving class to earn a license while passing the tests I will be getting a Silverado hd pickup.
