What Is OnStar? Is OnStar Worth It?

What is the blue button in my overhead controls? That blue button is a wonderful service called OnStar! Some of the most recognizable servies provided by OnStar are the roadside assistant and OnStar Security. Say you get a flat and need help changing it or need your car towed, press that blue button and someone will be there to assist. If someone breaks in and steals your car, call OnStar and they can remotely power-down your car so the thief cannot go anuy further. One of the newest feature of OnStar is the OnStar App. You can lock andunlock your vehicle remotely, and even start your car if you have remote start. Onstar is rude lately. Something is not right with customer service. My mother was on a trip and needed directions. She tried 7 times to talk to someone, and yet there was nobody to help her.

I won’t buy any GM vehicle again. If you don’t agree to Onstar terms and conditions, GM will display a warning messgae on the radio screen every time you start the car. They instruct their dealer not to disable this warning unless the owner agrees to sign up for onstar. Onstar should have gone away when cell phones became popular, just like the phones that used to be on airplanes. But onstar kicks back enough money to GM that they now must use coercion in their business model.

I think it is absurd that this is not only still on the market but now a mandatory and expensive upgrade for all GMC vehicles. OnStar is completely useless and outdated. there is absolutely nothing that it can do that your iPhone with apple car play cant do. I also hate the stupid shark fin antenna that you have to have for this. all in all it is a useless service that is being forced on people for the purpose of greed. it is not useful in any way unless you are an elderly person with like a flip phone from 2002 why would you need this service?
