Road side assistance is cheap. My phone has WiFi. If I crash, 100 other drivers in the road will be calling 911. My dashboard gives me vehicle information or I can use my ODB reader. If OnStar was cheaper more average joes like me would use it but 50 bucks a month is a lot for rarely used features.

I ripped the antenna off and removed the compass transducer after about three months of receiving postcards from the dealer. I don’t need to be tracked or told when to service my vehicle.

How often does anyone come across such bad events. Its like a chance of being struck by lightning
And in the case of a person needing help.
I never needed to push a button
I just helped and bypassed any bs.
If they needed more help than i could give.
Id find a way to bring it. Who wouldn’t?.

It also tracks your driving style and forwards it to your insurance.. which can cause your rates to go up if it shows your a reckless driver.. hard breaks, fast starts etc etc

First, I would say, be your own first responder. Second, I would say to stop relying on on someone else to provide you services if you have the capacity to learn how to do it yourself. With the easy access of information and the portability to fit in your pocket, there is absolutely no need for OnStar. OnStar should be optional on these vehicles, and the fact that some of us want it out, should have the option to do so.

I just bought a Cadillac, and the Salesman pushed some Buttons and an OnStar Sales Rep was suddenly annoying me with a Hard Sell Bullshit. After repeatedly telling her I wasn't interested, and continued pushiness from her I yelled F*** O** I am not interested, not now, nor ever in the Future, so don't ever contact me again, as I will no longer be nice and Polite. Next Day I'm getting Phone calls for some useless Radio Stations, again with the F.O. and don't bother me again. I remember my earlier Caddys have these same Useless Features. At least on the STS I was able to gain access to the Mike Wires and Cut them. I wonder if there is a way to cut the Onstar connections but still have the Phone Working. If not, I will still cut them, and just put my phone in my Shirt Pocket on Handsfree, like I have been doing so since 2009. I wonder if pulling a Fuse will shut that Crap off

Imagine this: On Star, the superhero of car tech! It does everything your phone can do, and guess what? No need for acrobatics like reaching up to push buttons while driving. It's like having a personal assistant that doesn't play hard to get. Just sit back, relax, and let On Star be your car's very own stand-up comedian.

I just bought a GM vehicle two weeks ago. They’ve been on my ass to press the little blue button. They say that it needs to be done to complete the transaction and I can cancel it anytime. I’ve never given them my credit card in order to charge anything. Why do they need me to activate it so bad and then disconnect it? They also said that GM requires them to do this. Why? Any old GM sales reps out there that want to be honest with us here? No offense to the guy that’s posting this OnStar review but he’s worked for Jim a long time so I’m not expecting to get 100% truth and transparency.

I've been driving for 15+ yrs and never needed a service like this.. This is another way for a company to make money. This is for people who seriously are high-risk drivers always getting tickets, and hitting stuff.

What about all the behind the scenes stuff that you’re not mentioning? Everything you said, for the most part can be done through our cell phones. You said all the things that benefit the customer, what about all of the things that benefit GM and the insurance companies?

I had On Star for a couple of years or so and my Cadillac, CTS, until the On Star module quit working mounted on the trunk side wall. And then GM dealer wanted about $500 to replace it! Lol I said no way forget it and I haven’t had On Star in my car recess which is probably been 2 1/2 years ago or so. I’ve never missed it for a second. Lol if they were to replace their own faulty, On Star module for free I probably would still have it and be paying for it today. But when they tried to rape me for about 500 bucks to replace a module and one of their cars that quit working well that’s where I drew the line. No more On Star nonsense for me! Lol

OnStar is a great feature. Love knowing if my tire is flat before hand. And I never fear getting locked out 😊
