This video is amazing. Not only it brings really strong ideas to improve character in the mix, but it's also a showcase of brilliant Reaper usage! The effects shown (love the distortion and the flanger) and the way you guys have manipulated automation, track splitting, curve shaping, that was all brilliant! I'll now dive into some Kenny Gioia's videos to learn exactly how to do that. That auto automation lane was really neat.

I love that you guys use reaper for those short video tutorials! As a reaper user (however everyone is thinking about that tool) it’s always a pain in the ass translating every tutorial from
Several DAW‘s into reaper settings! I love that reaper gets the attention of producers more and more!

Very nice and helpful Video as always!

Nice tips! For the vox distortion part, I think it's better to plan ahead and record a second take instead of copypasting, then you decide in which parts of the song you'll use. If you work with harsh vocals, you might (may?) go with:
- Track 1: Main vox > EQ/comp > Delay > Verb
- Track 2: Doubles > EQ/comp > Distortion (just for an extra crisp/grit)
- Track 3: Doubles low (gutturals) > EQ/comp > Hard panning (2 takes required)

I love JS waveshaping distortion - I'm pretty sure it has a built-in limiter/clipper tho (it never peaks above 0.0 for me).

Js waveshaping distortion is my fave out of all of the reaper distortions. Good to see it being used by the pros too 👌. Great tips as always!

Putting that harmonic exciter behind the bit crusher. I needed that. Tracks always sound dull after I do that. Thanks Joey!

Flanger on drum fills!! Yes!!! Eyal refused to use a flanger on a drum intro when mixing my bands record. Funny that Joey does it.

Thank you so much for all these Videos Joey 😉

I love adding flanger and phaser to drum transitions! It's a technique I stole from the intro of Feeling This by blink-182, that phasey drum sound is a great tool when used in the right spot :)

I never was a fan of bitcrusher mainly because I heard it on so many songs. But now I see it from another perspective. Thank you!

BTW, what song is in the Drums Flanger example?

Hey Joey. Do you have any videos with tips on getting L/R rhythm guitars to sound bigger? Or to enhance them to just come out of the speakers so to speak? Thanks!

How did you do that quick plugin automation where you just clicked the element and it popped up under the track?
