I check out the menu online beforehand because usually the group is chatting so much when we get there that I can't focus on reading the menu AND getting the gossip! It also helps to make healthier choices when I decide ahead of time instead of impulsively getting what "sounds good" at the moment.

I can’t pay attention to the conversation and the menu at the same time.

But when I’m dining alone, I don’t usually do any research.

That’s me. I read the menu know what I’m ordering and know options in case what I wanted is unavailable.
If I feel rushed and don’t know what my options are I panic order something dumb, like oh ok I’ll just have toast. lol
Then I’m angry the rest of the week

I do that all the time. Before my girlfriend and I go out to a restaurant I check out the menu and also look at reviews. So I pretty much know what I want once I get there. My girlfriend, on the other hand, has to look at the menu for 15 minutes to decide what she wants. She drives me crazy. 😅

This is absolutely me. But I have gluten dairy and soy allergy and I'm really picky about what I eat. I can't even imagine walking in without thoroughly knowing the menu that just makes me feel all kinds of wrong.

If there's a wait for a table, I ask for a menu so I can spend that time deciding what I want. Otherwise no advance planning here.
