Subnautica What Happens If You Miss The Sunbeam

Subnautica what happens if you miss the sunbeam. *Spoiler alert* if you’re reading this and not watching the video this is a spoiler for later on in the game if you haven’t reached this part yet. The Sunbeam is an extraction team coming to rescue from the alien planet you crashed on but whatever you do you cannot stop the alien weapon that looks like a building from shooting down the Sunbeam from what I could find.

I couldn't find seaglide parts to scan so I didn't think I would be able to get over to the landing zone without needing to eat, drink, or evade anything hostile. So I stayed on the lifepod and hoped it would wait for a bit. When I saw the beam go up and shoot down the sunbeam, my thoughts were "What fish has a GODDAMN LASER?!"

On my first playthrough I was lost on the other Island when the sunbeam arrived. I litterly just saw a giant laser in the distance

Since the sunbeam only arrives if you use the radio AFAIK, you can complete the whole game and then do the radio messages after you shut down the enforcement platform and then the sunbeam is just like "lol sorry bro, we tried, too much stuff in orbit" and just leaves.

i died of dehydration right when the sunbeam arrived so i technically did not miss it i just died when they said how did you survive there

My jaw dropped watching that building turn into a cannon. to top it off there was no dialogue for like a minute after the sunbeam blew up, I was sitting there like holy shit this is definitely not just an ocean minecraft

people in the comment section are saying missing it is much more cooler and impactfull, but honestly, something about trying to turn the gun off beforehand, failing, then go outside and be forced to watch your means of escape explode in front of your very eyes, just gets me every time.

The silence after watching it get shot down really drives it home for me. The sinking realization that no one is coming. That you are completely and utterly alone. Some people dislike the lack of characterization in this game, but that's what makes this such a terrifying event.

Imagine being a new player to this game and seeing a laser beam just pop out of a fog. Missing the landing zone is way cooler and scarier.

I was disappointed there wasn’t a special animation if you’re down in the Weapon Control Room when the Sunbeam arrives. I thought there would be a flash of power or something when it fired, but nope.

Imagine the sea dragon could sense something trying to leave or enter and it straight up fires a godzilla beam like this all the way from the lava zone

It sucks cause it looks like he might have actually stuck the landing even after claiming he was damn sure it was a longshot.

I love that it just gives you with the thought of I'm never getting out of here as its just goes silent after the explosion.Truly an awesome game. :)
