After a bruising campaign, in which leading contenders pulled out of further public debates, the Tory leadership race is heading closer to the finish line as four candidates become three.

Former chancellor Rishi Sunak led when MPs cast their ballots in the third round while Tom Tugendhat was the latest to be dropped. Penny Mordaunt came second, foreign secretary Liz Truss was behind her in third and Kemi Badenoch came fourth.

I do not know Penny’s views on war alongside America and Nato but whoever wins, the citizens want billions spent here not on weapons of mass destruction

We're moving ever closer to the inauguration of our first non white Prime Minister. I hope somebody's ordered plenty of rainbow bunting!
