To this day, i still struggle to create proper questions for spaced repetition that actually work. It’s really frustrating, so, as you said, I end up reverting back to traditional methods

STORY TIME- went to college goofed off for 2 years. Had a hard reality check. Decided to change life. Took a gpa from 1.6 to a 2.87. Studying for the mcat started scoring from 495 now about a 507. Haven't taken the actual yet. I'm working hard maintining my family business and doing well in school. I've been following medschool insiders and can thank them for their info in helping me. Now I hope all is good when I start to apply. Any tips would be welcomed

Almost universally the tips 1) evidence based learning and 4) pursuit of efficiency takes place in todays med school classes nowadays. Out of 180 students in my class I would say that well over 80% use Anki and outside resources with under 20 students attending live lectures. The use of outside resources like boards and beyond, pathoma, and sketchy is well above 50% of our class. These resources save the time of watching lectures, while already having Anki cards made that will directly help you with the test you're studying for and STEP. While this is great and most all students are studying as efficiently and effectively as possible, this creates a hypercompetitive space even within a class that is pass/fail (aside from being ranked into tertials). Med students have picked these habits up to the nth degree in the past 2 years, and if you aren't using it you are almost looked down upon like a caveman. My advice to incoming med students and anyone applying is to learn these habits and learn them quickly, because if you don't your peers are.
