In this special video, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and share a personal method that I developed to allow me to achieve my goals fast, learn fast, be very efficient and productive, without losing focus...... and have FUN doing it.

I do NOT monetize my videos, show YouTube ads or have a Patreon page.
But if you want to support me, you can buy me a cup of coffee :-) It's much appreciated !

Thank you Mike, thank you for making me remember my "why". Because of growing up in a manipulative family, I have realized my why even though I'm just in my early twenties, I realized who I want to be. So I quit my job, self-studying hard surface modeling at home for 1 year+ till now, and I thought I was ready to get a modeling job. Only until I started to prepare a portfolio recently, I felt like I wasn't ready at all. I feel like I can't model anything, more precisely, I can't stay consistent and efficient in modeling complicated models. I'm pretty obsessed with the standard of delivery because I have to prove my professionalism despite not having proper education at 3d college. I'm stressed and panicked, I was rushing things out, but the more I rush the more I lost track of myself. I become frustrated, lazy, and less productive for 2 months now.

Not really sure if this is what this video is about haha, but you calm me down and have a better look at myself. I'm now discovered new ways to focus on my ultimate goal, thank you so much Mike!

Very thoughtful and deep. I really enjoy doing art but everything in my life seems to pull me away from my core WHY but I am still trying and fighting not knowing what's going to happen next. as I said I do enjoy art but whenever I try to follow my dreams and doing what I REALLY love everything seems to go wrong I loss friends etc... I just hope one day I can do what I enjoy in peace without external people telling me what should I do and what not. Thank you for sharing Mike you're genuine person .

Very happy to see you back Mike! Much of this reasoning I can relate to here.

I'm in my late twenties now, trying to break into the games industry as an environment artist. My early twenties were spent trying to figure out that, "why" that you speak of. I took my focus off of this line of work to pursue more traditional jobs, namely out of that external reasoning with them being the safer bet. I never took my own pursuits that seriously because they were always becoming derailed by rather mundane life choices. I'm now working hard on finishing up some comprehensive environment scenes for my portfolio as I adjust my sights for applying to studios this year. This never would've come to fruition if I had never asked the why.

What you've reminded me of, is to keep asking that why. And to work at understanding a deeper meaning to why I do what I do. Thank-you for reminding me of this! ☺

This resonated with me so much. I have struggled with staying focused and consistent with honing my skills as a 3D environment artist and this video helped put it in perspective for me as to “why” I want to do this. Thank you so much Mike for sharing this I’ve been watching your videos for years and this is one of the most impactful ones.

I for one appreciate this. I have questionable focus at best. When I'm on a project I can usually concentrate solely on that project. Sometimes I get so focused I completely lose track of time. But if I get distracted one little bit, it throws my whole process off. And other projects I think I just get too frustrated and give up too easy. Sometimes I question why I even went to college to learn 3D graphics.

While I agree completely with this mentality. I think finding that core value can be very challenging.
