From the flash design era, skeumorphism, web 2.0, flat design, all the way until now -- let's take a look!

What trend do you like the best? I'm particularly fond of the flash design era -- but I have to say, with all of the tools we have (threejs, rive, spline, etc..) the future is looking juicy!

I had forgotten about the futuristic design of the early 2000's, but seeing it now has unlocked memories I didn't remember I had.

Very nice video btw!

This is refreshing. Thank you so much.

I miss the dancing babies on the vast majority of websites... 😂

It's crazy to think that 20 years later, the websites we're seeing nowadays will also be as nostalgic as those in the 2000's.

Holy shit, Gary. 2advanced brought me back to high school. My buddies and I used to get so hyped going through their site, and trying to reverse engineer all that flashy nonsense in macromedia flash.

When I started Industrial Design studies as a kid, I was fortunate to have an Art Teach who taught old school layout & graphic design. Everyone calls Neumorphism & Glassmorphism a new thing and it really isn't, , aspects of it was done for year in magazine/magazine ads and tv ads. For may years you could do Neumorphism in Photoshop but just not on a website without using tons of image files- CSS changed that, heck with CSS there is loads of photoshop and animations effects you can replicate. I personally have always believed that drop shadows make elements pop and give depth to websites. I also see a website as if it were a digital magazine come to life; it can have still images & video etc.

Awesome video Gary!!! As someone who recently (past 2 years) started his career as a web designer Its very cool to see how design as evolved and how you have been there since the beginning!! Do you think we will see a nostalgic wave of trendiness that might bring back some of these older looks? or maybe combine/incorporate them into the newer designs etc.

Could you make a tutorial on something similar to the "Corteez" case study? If you have already made it would you mind telling me the video.

Next, most websites will be 3D. They already exist, but not in the numbers we may have thought. 90% of web designers continue to use 2015+ fashion.

Nice presentation! In the future, AI will enable websites and GUIs to become more personalized toward the user. Social media already does this to some extent, with ads and content. For instance, someone will visit a website of the future that tailors a user's experience to his or her preferences and so forth. Perhaps the website will include a chat feature which allows the user to describe those preferences, and even give permission for the site to access personal data from elsewhere, such as social media and other websites visited. From a visual standpoint, AI will perhaps tailor the visual experience. That said, as far as creating a new look goes, I'm not sure whether AI will accomplish that, but will require human imagination.

Absolutely love it! I knew I came here 🌠at the right time. I'm most looking forward to the next phase of web design (2022 - 2025) what I call the 'Interactive Website' phase that will feature more animations and interactive page elements. 🙂
