Can’t Open Exe Files in Windows 10/8/7 FIX

You might encounter a situation where you may not be able to open any .exe files or shortcut link files, i.e., EXE or LNK files. You might instead get a “Open with” dialog box, or it may open the file in another program. This happens if the file association of these file extensions may have got corrupted.

EXE files will not open or not working

A corrupted Registry, caused either by a bad software or malware or any other reason, can lead to your Windows being unable to open a particular file type.

When file associations for executable, batch or COM files are changed, it could cause your executables not to start. For example, when you try to click open a .exe file the programs will not start, or the Open with box might appear, or Windows will say that it cannot open this file and ask what you would like to use to open the program, or it may start a different program.

I'm on a new computer and I followed all instructions and I still can't install any .exe file. The only thing I was able to install was Microsoft Office directly from the Microsoft site. Any suggestions?

Can you help me with this problem: when I launch subnautica.exe inside a .zip file and then closed the game after playing for hours. Upon running the game again, it resets and my saves are lost. It does this a lot and not a rare glitch. Any help?

I made a game, and was trying to save it as an exe file (coded in python) but when I try to open it, it says the program is incompatible. I ran the troubleshooter and nothing. I performed a virus scan, and I can open other exe files, but not the python one.

I’m using Win7 Prof 64 bit and was really hoping it would work for me, no dice unfortunately.
Maybe it has something to do with the .exe file I need to open being a 32 bit program??

Had this happen suddenly on Win 10. Can't open ANY .exe file, not even regedit. The system was fine one moment, and then the next moment became unable to start ANY of the programs installed, even default programs.

I was so hesitent about if it would work cause i don't know a lot about programming and typing "%1"%* just didn't make any sense to me and i was like "This probably not gonna work but whatever". And then boom it worked! You are a international tresure that should be protected at al cost.

Hello I tried all these method.
I also uninstall and again install.
Now it is also not opening in safe mode.
1. Error:Excel failed to launch in safe mode. Do you want to start repair?
And When I start repairing it again show that message that
2.Excel could not open start last time.
I am getting these two messages one after another.
I spent alomost 4 to 5 days.
Still it is not getting resolved.
Please help
