Shin splints are Tib Anterior damage which is a muscle so you are 100% correct ✅ build your tolerance and let the muscle grow properly

Fascinating to see a dude with a body type like Mark become interested in running as a past time.

This is it. Running at a pace where you can have a convesation. I struggle with this because i want the run to end as soon as possible

As a life long runner. there are several factors that go into to injury prevention. Strengthening the anterior shin is so important. Static and active plyometric style of stretching. And even more important, great shoes for you. So many people buy the wrong shoe because they see influencers wearing them. Go to a reputable running store for your shoes. Have them analyze your gate and running style. Don’t listen to non runners giving running advise. What’s good for them might not be and probably isn’t good for you.

I became a big fan of mark in the documentary “bigger stronger faster” it’s incredible to see him years later with his YouTube channel and still going stronger and faster

In the short term, wear double knee high socks (rugby socks, football socks, etc.)—it makes a huge difference. Between runs, perform band toe back exercises to strengthen and adapt the tibialis and digitorum to the work that is being demanded—adaptation. It worked for me.

It seems to be highly age dependent. At age 20 I went from completely untrained to interval running 5k 3 to 4 times a week. Like 7min/mi pace average. In crappy shoes on concrete. Never had that much shin issues. Now im 30, been regularly running 2 miles 3 times a week at about 8min/mile pace... constant shin pain. Its so frustrating.

Shin splints can also be caused by not wearing the right running shoes. I had shin splints a few weeks ago and when I started wearing netball shoes my shins didn’t hurt anymore.

Also train up your tibialis to absorb the shock of every step so you’re not slamming your tibia every time you heel strike.

Also practice mid foot strike running instead of heel strike running.

I always get shin splints when running below 5:30 min/km. I've been running at the same speed for months but I enjoy pushing myself, so running became less fun. It feels like I'm so ready to run even faster than 5:30 but my shins are suckers.

Tib raises saved me. I’ve never had them again!

not a problem I ever had, but I do Tib raises and walk backwards a la KOT

But should I stop my running and just jog all the time or can I still do some running?

So would the best way to condition myself for running be walking/jogging with weights?

how much time it would take to make strong shins using this technique?

Should I run everyday? I’m currently in the process of getting enlisted and feel the need to run everyday even if I’m sore.

how and when should i keep advancing from the 2 minute walk and 30 second jog if my feet wont get hurt?

I’ve been doing this for a month and a half and still get shin splints.. I’m hoping to join the army so I’ve been looking for ways to relive this. Hopefully they will get better with time as I agree with what you said
