yeah dude my pinion gear came off within the first 10 min of the first drive, definitely have to loctite that thing on before driving it at all

I had issues with the tiny screw on the pinion gear. Annoying. Locktite fixed the issue.

I never had that issue on mine with the pinion coming off runs good though I end up with the same color as well I wanted to get the Hawaiian blue color one but they didn’t have it all they had was the red one

The foam is for the battery compartment when using smaller batteries

Why are the Traxxas connectors "goofy"? They're just as good as any other connector

I’ve owned my XMAXX for 4 years now, still to this day, when I take it out, it feels intimidating. Never had any real issues with the truck, pinion I did have to Loctite and steering servo died so I upgraded to the more powerful Traxxas servo with metal gear, and lastly I ended up chewing out the standard spur gear so went for the 50t spur which I recommend, just gave it some more speed without losing too much torque.
